USA Women's Hockey Team Captures Gold

The USA women's hockey team capture gold two weekends ago during the 2017 IIHF Women's World Hockey Tournament in Plymouth, MI. Team USA lead four out of the six categories in the tournament including shots on goal, powerplay percentage, and goals scored. These categories are what lead the team into victory during this tournament.


The team lead the tournament with a total of 28 goals scored with scoring leader USA forward Kendall Coyne leading the tournament with five goals scored. The team averaged to score around eight goals per game with no other team able to outscore them.

One of the bigger problems the other teams faced was not taking enough shots on goal. Team USA managed to also lead with a total of 194 shots averaging 39 shots per game.

Lastly, they lead the tournament with powerplay percentage. The team played with an effective powerplay that gave them the upper hand with their powerplay goals. They took first in the tournament overall with 28.57 percentage making them the team that was hard to beat.

Overall, Team USA lead a powerful and destructive team in this tournament to win the gold medal on USA soil and in front of their home crowd.
